Instruments are serviced using distilled water through the use of gravimetric analysis obtained by using an annually certified analytic balance (calibrated with test weights that are traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology). The balance is temperature equilibrated, leveled, weighing pan installed, and calibrated on-site.
Data retrieved from the pipette calibration will be analyzed in accordance to Z-factors (National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards Document #18-P) and converted from sample weights to volumes.
Each instrument will be listed in the documentation with its pipette type, serial number, acceptable parameters, all measured values obtained from calibration, mean values, mean error percentage, standard deviation, and coefficient of variation.
As part of our green initiative, all documentation is now available electronically.
